Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Meleket, operated by Meleket Technology, collects, uses, shares, protects, retains, and deletes information when you use the Meleket mobile application and related services.

Information we collect

Depending on the features you use, Meleket may collect:

• Account information: phone number, account identifiers, authentication information, referral information, and account/subscription status.
• Payment information: transaction references, amount, currency, payment status, and information required to verify a payment. Payment checkout is handled by the payment provider; Meleket does not intentionally store full bank-card credentials.
• Notification information: Firebase Cloud Messaging device/registration tokens and notification preferences used to deliver app notifications.
• Support information: information you submit when contacting support, such as your name, phone number, email address, subject, and message.
• AI assistant information: messages or prompts you choose to send to the Abiti assistant and the responses needed to provide that feature.
• Technical information: basic app, device, and network information that may be processed by service providers to operate, secure, diagnose, and deliver the app.

How we use information

We use information to create and manage accounts, authenticate users, provide the business directory and news services, process and verify subscriptions and payments, deliver notifications, operate referrals, provide customer support and the Abiti assistant, prevent abuse or fraud, troubleshoot problems, and maintain the security and reliability of Meleket.

Service providers and sharing

We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. We may share only the information necessary to provide a requested feature with service providers that help operate Meleket, including:

• Chapa for payment checkout and payment verification.
• Google Firebase for push-notification delivery and related app infrastructure.
• SMS/OTP service providers used to send verification or service messages when that feature is used.
• Google Gemini or another configured AI provider when you use the Abiti assistant; the content you submit to the assistant may be sent to the configured AI service so a response can be generated.

We may also disclose information when required by applicable law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a lawful business transfer.

Data security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect user information. Data transmitted between the app and Meleket servers is intended to use encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to production systems and private integration credentials is restricted to authorized use.

Data retention and deletion

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, meet legitimate business needs, and satisfy legal or regulatory obligations. Some transaction or audit records may need to be retained where required by law.

If you want your Meleket account and associated personal data deleted, contact us using the details below or use the account-deletion option provided by Meleket. After a valid deletion request, we will delete or anonymize associated account data unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, payment records, or legal compliance.

Your choices

You may choose not to enable optional notifications and may change notification permissions in your device settings. You may contact us to ask about your information, request corrections, or request account deletion, subject to applicable law.

Children

Meleket is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
